H2Roma school was born in 2005 edition and was targeted to high school students. CNR (National Centre of Research) welcomes more than one hundred students of Rome, who have for the first time the possibility to talk to researchers of C.I.R.P.S. Sapienza-University of Rome, CNR and ENEA, promoters of the event.
Renewable sources of energy and sustainable mobility are the main topics, whiche were explained better through new concept cars shown by researchers themselves. Students and teachers’ enthusiasm persuades H2Roma to make bigger the school initiative and feedback was immediate and positive.
So, in 2006 edition, more than five hundreds students from Lazio region take part to H2Roma which is organized in Piazza del Popolo. In such edition, the program includes meetings with indipendent researchers and Industry rapresentatives. In facts, Bmw, Fiat, Ford, General Motors, Honda, PSA Peugeot Citroën, Toyota and Volvo, global leaders of the automotive industry, show their cars equipped with the most advanced technologies, developed in order to reach the “zero emission” target. So everyone can see, understand and touch innovative solutions that, if now were widely adopted, would decrease CO2 emissions, an urgent need.
Once again students confirm their interest in new ecofriendly technologies. For this reason BMW Group proposes them a new project, the CleanEnergy Award.
This is the records edition: in facts, about one thousand and five hundreds students take part to H2Roma School, in piazza del Popolo. They came from 25 institutes of Lazio region. So both days of H2Roma have been dedicated to the schools. There are meetings with researchers and automotive industry representatives, joined by another important group, Mercedes-Benz, confirming the growing success of H2Roma.
The CleanEnergy Award is given to 4th F of G. Vallauri Institute thanks to the project called “Cycle TV”.The students, their coordinator, professor Santilli, and dean, professor Massimo Di Segni, retire the prize in Campidoglio from the hands of Anton Reisinger, Senior Vice President of Bmw Group. Besides that, Vallauri institute has received a hydrogen kit for laboratory activities, while the winner group have visited the to BMW Centre of Research, in Munich.
The event takes place entirely in Piazza del Popolo, which thus becomes the “green” heart of the Capital. Workshops, conferences, meetings with students, exposition, test drive, were all zero emissions, thanks to the support of the “Impatto Zero”, the project which offsets the CO2 emissions of the event thriugh the reforestation of an area of Costa Rica. “The way I move, how I would like to move in my city” is the theme on which students have developed their project. The BMW Award 2008 has been assigned to the Galileo Galilei Institute of Latina with the project entitled “Organization of urban and extra urban mobility”. On Thursday 13th November in Piazza del Popolo, during the H2Roma conference, the Communications Director of BMW Group Italy, Gianni Oliosi, handed the BMW Award to professor Antonino Clemente, dean of the institute, together with students and professors who developed the project.
H2Roma: watch, understand and test the cleanest cars on earth. The research and the industry meet the media and the wide public, to draw the path towards future mobility. The educational area will host debates and related projects.
