BMW and the efficient use of energy
“Launching the 2009 edition on “The future towards more efficiency: from the car to the home up to the city without any waste” – said Gianni Oliosi, Communication and PR Manager of BMW Group Italia – we chose to tackle the issue of energy saving extending it to the whole urban habitat. For BMW the efficient use of energy represents a topical issue. Actually, thanks to the BMW EfficientDynamics technology, every model we build, from the compact BMW Series 1 to the new BMW Series 7, provides fun to drive and low levels of emissions as well as valid solutions for sustainable mobility. For example, BMW Group is a leader in Europe for the reduction of fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, a record confirmed by a recent T&E research which highlights the positive impact of the Efficient Dynamics technology. From 1995 to 2008 the BMW Group has reduced the average fuel consumption of all the vehicles sold in Europe by over 25%, thus overcoming the target set by the European Association of Car Makers (ACEA) for its own brands."
“The Photobus” and the “Photovoltaic PC”, the awarded projects
The commission, composed of CIRPS researchers from Sapienza University in Rome, awarded the BMW EfficientDynamics Prize to the class II B of a high school for social sciences in Palestrina. The students were coordinated by the manager of the school, Ms Marisa Pia Zeppa, and two teachers, Ms Tilde Centracchio and Ms Irene Cortoni.
