It will be shown at the 80th Geneva Motor Show on March 2010 by Rinspeed, company focused on developing sustainable mobility concepts.
The two-seater electric concept car is named “UC” Urban Commuter, is just 2.50 meters long, has top speed of 110 km/h and an operating range of 120 kilometers.
The key issue of this vehicle is the symbiosis it establishes among car, train and web: to avoid gridlock in the inner cities the UC, thanks to its compact size, can be easily transported on a railcar where the battery gets recharged. The whole service is booked via the internet.
The visionary founder of Rinspeed Frank M. Rinderknecht has defined UC “A new and highly emotional web-based car that interweaves individual and public transport in an intelligent way. We want to create a community of people who are open for a new definition of mobility.”
UC could also mean “You see”, in the sense that this is what you have to look at as a solution of the sustainable mobility challenge.
