Geneva Preview: Honda presents its hybrid car

Great expectation for the compact sports CR-Z with a green heart

Fotogallery Among the latest developments that are raising great expectations at the Geneva Motor Show there is the final version of the CR-Z, the sporty concept which, starting from the Tokyo Motor Show, has so far been on a world tour.

Actually, it will soon become a definite model of the Honda range as Takeo Fukui, Honda CEO, had already said while illustrating the brand’s development strategies based on environmentally oriented technologies. The only thing which has not been announced yet is the production schedule.

The CR-Z has got hybrid characteristics although its design is virtually sporty, indeed this is one of its strengths together with the technological features. According to Honda plans, as from 2010 hybrid models will be 10% of all the sales and the USA will become a leading market. Equipped with hydrogen systems, at the Geneva Motor Show on display there will be the fuel cell FCX Clarity, the latest development of a project started several years ago and whose fuel cell units are really innovative: as from next summer Honda will begin to lease it to some private American customers so that they may try it on the road. Any further news from the Japanese company will be available in the press conference on March 4th at 8.30.
