Two blows with an interval of twenty-four hours between each other. The former comes from Tesla Motors which, unexpectedly, announces that its plug-in super car will be landing on the European market, though with a limited number of units. The latter, instead, is from Frisker Automotive, a new-born American brand, which will be coming to Italy with the Karma, a stunning plug-in hybrid car. As from 2009, the Tesla super car will be available in 250 units for those wealthy lucky ones who will afford to spend 99 thousand euros.
After being on the walkway at the Top Marque Monaco, a sort of European luxury and exclusive auto show in Montecarlo, it is very likely to be exhibited at the Paris Motor Show. For Fisker, instead, Italy will be the first country where, thanks to an international sale network, the cars will be imported through an official distribution channel.
Out of the 15 thousand Karma units planned to be produced per year by Fisker, half of them will be for the European market. Satisfied with this prospect, Franco Pizzuto, CEO of Fisker Italia, said: “We at Fisker Italia believe in the philosophy, management team and vehicles that Fisker Automotive has put together. We are honoured to be the first European dealer announced in this very important movement." The American debut is scheduled by the end of 2009, while the European one will not be earlier than 2010.
