Bosch expands its renewable energy sector

Growth for wind and organic photovoltaic systems

Bosch, which has long been working in the renewable energy area, is about to acquire Ersol Solar energy AG with the purpose of enhancing the sector and of reaching a 750 million € turnover by 2008.

Ersol, instead, which has got 1,000 employees, develops, manufactures and markets solar cells in three different plants and its 2007 turnover was €160 million worth; the 2008 sales should amount to some € 300 million. Franz Fehrenbach, CEO of Bosch Group, claims that Ersol is an ideal company because of its know-how and management expertise in the sector.

Therefore, with this acquisition Bosch, a leading company in technology and services, will contribute to the protection of the environment and the conservation of natural resources. Actually the production of the components ranges from wind turbines to systems exploiting sea currents, solar panels, solar heating and organic photovoltaic systems.
