Up with the electric mode! There had never been so much interest before in electric cars, hybrid systems and all those kilowatt-based solutions which are fuel-saving and reduce pollution.
The latest news focuses on the signature of an agreement between PSA Peugeot-Citroen group and Mitsubishi, which will both work in partnership to develop electric motors to be used on city cars. However, a week before the collaboration between the two groups had brought to another agreement for the implementation of the Kaluga assembly plant, 180 km from Moscow.
On the French side, the Peugeot-Citroen group will contribute its experience gained in the electric sector with the production of 10 thousand cars, while on the other side, the Japanese group will concentrate its efforts on the Miev, a small electric city car which will be launched in Japan in 2009 and, in all likelihood, afterwards also in Europe and the USA. Besides, Mitsubishi has signed a joint-venture agreement with Yuasa for a large scale production of lithium-ion batteries to be used to power the Miev, the city-car based on the “I”.
