Thanks to its environmental commitments, Nissan is endorsed as an 'Eco First' company

The award, given by the Japanese Minister of Environment, vouches for the company's 'Green Program' actions

Japan’s Ministry of Environment has officially awarded Nissan Motor Co. the “Eco First” prize established for those companies which, in compliance with the Kyoto Protocol, promote actions to reduce the environmental impact. The ceremony was held at the Ministry of Environment in Tokyo by Ichiro Kamoshita, Minister of Environment, who, in delivering the official certification, highlighted the features of the Nissan Green Program 2010 (NGP).

Consistent to the program, Nissan Motor Co. pledges its ‘Eco First’ commitments, first of all, reducing CO2 emissions as well as emissions to protect water, air and soil resources, then recycling resources to achieve 100% rate of resource recovery in Japan and reducing the impact of harmful substances from its business operations, finally contributing to the establishment of environmental awareness within the community. Any progress of the company’s environmental commitments will be systematically reported to the Ministry of environment.

The “Eco First” program was established under the aegis of the Japanese Ministry of Environment in April 2008 in order to help businesses become eco-sustainable. Thanks to this certification Nissan Motor Co. is allowed to use the “Eco First” logo in its own business communication in order to make the public more and more aware of the environmental issues, the main target of the NGP.

As announced at the ‘Academic Day’ event, the company will attend the H2Roma Energy and Mobility Show, which is part of the company’s actions outlined in the green program.
